Discussion Questions

  1. Do you agree/disagree with the following statement: “Those who get more of Jesus are those who really want more of Jesus”.  Explain.  What stories from the Bible support your answer?

  2. What about you personally?  Do you really want more of Jesus?  If so, how does your life, and the way you live, reflect this desire?  What would it take for you to want more of Jesus?

  3. After His resurrection, Jesus could have easily performed a show of miracles to draw a huge crowd and prove that He was alive. Instead He approaches two discouraged disciples and reveals Himself through the Scriptures.  What does this tell you about Jesus’ methods for opening blind eyes?  How does this inform the way we do church in the 21st century?

  4. What do you think is the best way to reach 21st century unbelievers with the gospel? Is it possible to bring an unbeliever to faith solely through our knowledge of the Scriptures, the strength of our arguments, and the eloquence of our speech? Explain.

  5. If God is the One who opens our eyes and brings us to faith, how should this affect the way we view unbelievers who oppose the truths of Scripture?  What is it that separates the believer from the unbeliever?

  6. Upon realizing it was Jesus who was speaking to them, the two disciples quickly returned to Jerusalem, despite the 7 mile walk. Why do you think they were so excited to share the good news? How about you, are you just as excited to share the good news with others?  Why or why not?
