Discussion Questions

  1. Do you find it difficult to believe in the resurrection of Jesus?  Why or why not?   Put yourself into the shoes of the 11 disciples - why do you think they found it so difficult to believe?

  2. How does Luke’s narrative of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus display the great love his female followers had for their Lord? To help you answer this question, try to put yourself into their shoes and describe the love they had for Jesus.  At the same time, how does the narrative prove they did not believe in the resurrection?

  3. How is it possible to love Jesus so deeply, but still not believe Him at His word?  Do Christians still live like this today?  Explain.

  4. Why is it sometimes difficult to take God at His word and to remember His promises? What specifically do we need to remember in our times of greatest struggle and trouble.  How does this help us?

  5. While the other disciples dismiss the women’s story of the risen Christ as an idle tale, Peter runs to the tomb.  Why do you think he did that?  How did the empty tomb impact Peter’s life?  How does the empty tomb impact yours?
