Missions at Hawaii Kai Church Missions is part of our heartbeat at Hawaii Kai Church! We believe that missions means involvement in the work of Christ's Kingdom throughout the world by means of giving, praying, and going. In recent years, members of our congregation have been involved in short-term mission projects in China, Indonesia, Mexico, and Louisiana. We are seeking to develop into a world Christian congregation, living with a consciousness of what God is doing beyond our islands. Going is not the only aspect of missions at Hawaii Kai Church. We also support a number of missionaries at home and abroad through our missions budget. We directly support missionaries serving in England, Holland, and Paraguay. In addition, 12% of our undesignated tithes and offerings go to support mission causes through the SBC Cooperative Program. Each year we also provide opportunity to give to State, North American, and International missions through special offerings. Hawaii Kai Church also seeks to be involved with disaster relief work. Our members have assisted with disaster relief efforts in Indonesia in the aftermath of the tsunami, in Louisiana in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, and locally on the island of Oahu in the aftermath of severe flooding. Hawaii Kai Church is involved in missions locally in a number of ways. We are involved with the homeless through River of Life mission. We participate in a local food pantry that provides food for the hungry. We minister at various times throughout the year with senior adults at assisted living facilities in our community. We also participate in a mission to international students on the campus of University of Hawaii. Mt 28:18-20 ESV And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." If you are interested, please contact Pastor Duane at 375-7720. |
